India Will End Up Losing T20 Series Against Bangladesh If They Take Them Lightly

India suddenly find themselves on the back foot after losing the first T20 to Bangladesh in the three match series. The second T20 which takes place on Nov 7 in Rajkot now becomes a must win game for the Indians if they are going to keep the series alive.

It is safe to say that India were very confident of themselves going into the first T20 in Delhi as they had never lost a T20 game to Bangladesh before. The selectors decided to rest captain Virat Kohli and hand over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma.

How Good Is India’s Batting?

R Sharma and V Kohli have been India’s two best batsmen in the shorter formats of the game for quite some time now. When the two big guns fail, India invariably end up losing the game as was the case on Sunday night. India were sent into bat and R Sharma departed quickly.

The experienced S Dhawan who has not had a good run in T20 matches looked to spend some time at the crease. However, he struggled to score and ended up as the top scorer with 41 runs but at a strike rate of 97. KL Rahul who keeps his place in the side based on the talent he has once again failed with the bat and got out for 15.

The only person who played with flair at the crease was S Iyer who tried to switch the momentum by playing freely. Just as he looked set, Iyer fell for 22 of 13 balls and Bangladesh took charge of the game. Some lower order hitting by K Pandya and W Sundar helped India get to 148 which was never going to be enough, given the fact that India were not playing their top pace bowlers.

Bangladesh Take 1-0 Lead

Bangladesh put together crucial partnerships throughout their innings to ensure that there was no collapse and that they had a strong platform to launch an attack towards the end that helped them to win with 3 balls to spare. M Rahim won the man of the match award for his 60 of 43 balls which included 1 six and 8 fours.

India will have their work cut out in the second T20 as Bangladesh will desperately want to win the series. India cannot afford to take this Bangladeshi team lightly and will have to come out and give more than a 100 percent if they are going to win this T20 series after being 1-0 down.
