India put themselves under pressure after losing the first T20 to Bangladesh. They were under pressure because they needed to win the second game of the three match series to keep it alive. There was also talk circulating that the second T20 at Rajkot could get abandoned due to an impending storm.
The bad weather stayed away and allowed both teams to play a full game. India came back strong in the second T20 and cantered to a comfortable win to square the series and make the third and final T20 a virtual final. The third T20 which will decide the series takes place on November 10 in Nagpur.
Bangladesh Batsmen Struggle Batting First
Bangladesh looked good in the first T20 when they chased. This time around, India won the toss and sent them in to bat. They had decent start but a run out at a crucial time in the innings; put the Bangladeshi Lions under pressure. Y Chahal added to that pressure taking two crucial wickets in S Sarkar and M Rahim.
India went in with the same squad for the second T20 as the selectors chose to back the young players and give them another opportunity. The Indian bowlers were a lot more disciplined in the second innings with only K Ahmed going for a few runs. Bangladesh could only manage to get to 153 in their 20 overs and should have got more given the fact that they only lost 6 wickets.
R Sharma Makes Quick Work Of The Chase
R Sharma decided to take on the challenge of winning the second T20 and managed to chase down more than half the runs by himself. Sharma was at his devastating best, hitting 85 of just 43 balls at a strike rate of 197. He received support from S Dhawan (31 of 27 balls) and S Iyer who remained unbeaten on 24 of 13 balls. R Sharma received the man of the match award for his performance.
India will be confident going into the third T20 game but know they are up against a dangerous side. The big question for India is whether their batting can fire if R Sharma fails at the top. Bangladesh know that this is one of their best opportunities to win a T20 series in India, which makes the final T20 a very exciting game for fans!
