South Africa Will Take Momentum Into Test Series After Stunning India In Third T20

India were expected to win the third T20 match on Sunday in Bengaluru and win the T20 series against South Africa 2-0. The South Africans stunned India as they played superbly with both bat and ball to win by 9 wickets and draw the series 2-0. This win will give the Proteas a lot of confidence as they head into the three match test series which starts on Oct 2.

Batting Collapse From India

India decided to bat first and got off to a pretty decent start as S Dhawan found the boundary at will. However, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals thanks to some great bowling by left armer B Hendricks. He bowled a miserly spell conceding just 14 runs in his 4 overs and picked up 2 wickets.

S Dhawan got out for 36 and captain V Kohli departed soon after for just 9. It was up to the middle-order to bail India out and they failed like they have done on most occasions in the last couple of years. R Pant looked like he was going to play a big innings but got dismissed on 19. S Iyer and the two Pandya brothers also struggled and India managed to post just 134 on the board.

Quinton de Kock Steals The Show

Quinton de Kock who is captaining South Africa in the absence of Faf de Plessis continued his good form and took the game away from India by smashing the bowlers to all parts of the boundary. The Proteas captain remained unbeaten on 79 hitting 5 sixes and 6 fours at a strike rate of nearly 152 to ensure that South Africa had no trouble chasing down a modest score.

The Indian bowlers were very ineffective as both the pacers and spinners struggled to put pressure on the South Africans. The Proteas chased down the score in 16.5 overs and will be thrilled with the result, given the fact that they are playing with a rather young team.

B Hendricks won the man of the match award while Quinton de Kock won the man of the series award.

Kohli Brushes Off Defeat

Virat Kohli brushed off the defeat stating that India decided to deliberately experiment in the third T20 starting with their decision to bat first. Kohli said the team would continue to do this in the coming T20 matches as they look to prepare for the T20 World Cup in 2020.

While Kohli brushed off the series draw and defeat in the third T20, he does not like losing and it will hurt him to draw a T20 series at home!
