IPL 11 -Match 51: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Odds and Betting Preview

The Royal Challengers are alive and fighting for a play-off spot after two straight wins but Virat Kohli’s men will need to keep that momentum going if they are to finish inside the top four. The Sunrisers were the first team through to the next phase and are also certain to play in the first qualifier so for the visitors, there isn’t too much riding on Thursday’s game.

Match Odds

The bookmakers have come down heavily in favour of RCB and the home side are available in the result market at odds of 1.83 with Betfair leaving Hyderabad out at 2.00 with Betfair again.

Kohli and De Villiers have hit form for Bangalore at the right time but the bowlers have stepped up as a unit, dismissing Kings XI for just 88 in the week so the hosts are justified favourites based on current form. There is the theory that SRH don’t have anything to play for but they will be looking to finish top so expect a competitive game with RCB’s momentum just likely to give them the edge.

Match Odds Summary: Royal Challengers Bangalore 1.83 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Sunrisers Hyderabad 2.00 (Betfair).

Top Batsmen

RCB rely so heavily on Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers and these two naturally dominate their side’s top batsman betting going into Thursday’s game. Kohli is, however, some way ahead in his side’s top batsman market at 3.10 with Betfair while AB follows at a generous 4.00 with Betfair again.

It’s always tough to look beyond those two but if both are dismissed early, there are further options including Brendon McCullum at 5.00 plus Moeen Ali and Parthiv Patel at 5.50, all with Betway, while Mandeep Singh may be a longer priced option at 11.00 with Betfair.

In the Sunrisers’ version of this market, Shikhar Dhawan has made a welcome return to form with 92 and 79 in his last two games but it’s Kane Williamson who starts as favourite to top score for RCB at 3.30 with Betfair while Dhawan follows at an excellent 4.00 with Betfair again.

Alex Hales will be anxious for a score on Thursday and you can back the English opener at 4.33 with Betway while long-range options for SRH include Manish Pandey at 7.00 and Shakib Al Hasan at a generous 13.00 – both with Betfair.

Williamson would be a preference for the Sunrisers but from these two sets of markets we’re going for De Villiers to top score for RCB. The South African has found his form and arguably has the best value price of all batters for this game.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: Royal Challengers Bangalore: Kohli 3.10 (Betfair), De Villiers 4.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), McCullum 5.00 (Betway), Moeen 5.50 (Betway), Parthiv Patel 5.50 (Betway), Mandeep Singh 11.00 (Betfair).

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Williamson 3.30 (Betfair), Dhawan 4.00 (Betfair), Hales 4.33 (Betway), Pandey 7.00 (Betfair), Shakib 13.00 (Betfair).

Other Side Bets

Umesh Yadav has been consistent with the ball and has earned a call up for India’s one-off test against Afghanistan but will he finish as the Royal Challengers’ best bowler once again? Yuzvendra Chahal actually starts as favourite to return best RCB figures at 3.75 with Betfair while Umesh is at 4.00 with Betway.

Other options for RCB include Moeen Ali at an excellent 9.00 with Betway while Washington Sundar will attract some interest at his 5.00 with Betway.

We could finish with Umesh Yadav in this market but instead, we’ll make a switch to the Man of the Match betting for a longer-priced final tip. Virat Kohli is a predictable favourite again at 6.00 with Betway but if we’re backing De Villiers for a big contribution, that should naturally leave him to convert in the MOM betting too where he sits at a good value price of 8.00 with Betfair.

Man of the Match Odds Summary:

Kohli 6.00 (Betway), De Villiers 8.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Dhawan 8.00 (Betfair), Williamson 9.00 (Betfair), Hales 11.00 (Betfair), Rashid Khan 13.00 (Betfair).

RCB play a dangerous game of relying on two batters for the bulk of their runs but for now, we’re happy to get behind Kohli and De Villiers to lead the Royal Challengers to another vital win.
