IPL 11 – Match 46: Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Odds and Betting Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad are the first team through to the play off stage of this season’s IPL but the incentive is there to keep winning and be sure to finish in the top two. Chennai Super Kings currently occupy that second place but CSK have mixed form of late and if they lose in Pune on Sunday, there is a danger that they may be caught by the chasing pack.

It’s first versus second but who are the bookmakers backing to get over the line?

Match Odds

Sunrisers look to be the better side right now but Chennai start as match favourites at odds of 1.83 with Betfair. That figure leaves SRH some way behind at 2.00 with Betfair again.

It could be argued that while CSK lost to Rajasthan on Friday, they ran into Jos Buttler who is in brilliant T20 form with the bat and we know that it often takes just one standout performance to swing a game in this format. There were other issues – the Super Kings simply didn’t make enough runs – but that batting depth may well be enough to get them over the line and justify their position as favourites.

Match Odds Summary: Chennai Super Kings 1.83 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Sunrisers Hyderabad 2.00 (Betfair).

Top Batsmen

Many of the Super Kings’ batters got starts against Rajasthan without converting a big score as Suresh Raina headed the run charts with his 52. For Sunday against SRH, Raina is available in CSK’s top scorer market at 4.50 with Betfair while Shane Watson starts as favourite at 4.00 with Betway. Ambati Rayudu will attract some interest at reasonable odds of 4.33 with Betway while CSK’s value options come in the middle order where both MS Dhoni and Sam Billings are quoted at 7.00 with Betfair.

Hyderabad’s batsmen rose to the challenge with a brilliant run chase that eliminated Delhi on Thursday. It was Shikhar Dhawan who top scored with an unbeaten 92 and he starts at 3.75 with Betfair to do the same against CSK. Kane Williamson wasn’t far behind that day and the skipper actually starts as favourite at 3.60 with Betfair

Alex Hales made a promising start to his IPL career but after two low scores has drifted to an interesting price of 4.00 with Betway while some longer options for the Sunrisers include Manish Pandey at 7.00, Shakib Al Hasan at 9.00 and Yusuf Pathan at 14.00 – all with Betfair.

As for an overall pick, it was good to see Shikhar Dhawan return to form against Delhi and he’s given some good profits all over the world but Kane Williamson has been Hyderabad’s most consistent player this season and we’re expecting another big contribution from the skipper on Sunday.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: Chennai Super Kings: Watson 4.00 (Betway), Rayudu 4.33 (Betway), Raina 4.50 (Betfair), Dhoni 7.00 (Betfair), Billings 7.00 (Betfair).

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Williamson 3.60 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Dhawan 3.75 (Betfair), Hales 4.00 (Betway), Pandey 7.00 (Betfair), Shakib 9.00 (Betfair), Yusuf Pathan 14.00 (Betfair).

Other Side Bets

We’ve gone for two favourites so far so let’s see if we can find some outsider value for our final tip. We could look at highest opening partnership which is a market we’ve been highlighting in recent matches and for this game, Chennai are favourites at 1.72 with Betfair while the Sunrisers are a decent tip at 2.00 with Betfair again.

Instead, we’re going to finish with Hyderabad’s Top Bowler: As Rishabh Pant went berserk at the end of Delhi’s innings on Thursday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the one to suffer most, going for 26 in his final over and finishing with figures of 1-51. Regular readers of these previews will know that Bhuvi is a favourite of ours and that onslaught may have helped his odds for Sunday’s match drift to a generous 4.33 with Betway.

There are other options which we will list now but while Sunrisers’ bowlers have their part to play, we don’t think it will be enough to prevent the Super Kings from taking the points and looking rather more comfortable in second place.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Top Bowler Odds Summary: Rashid Khan 3.75 (Betway), Bhuvneshwar Kumar 4.33 (Betway – Editor’s Pick), Siddarth Kaul 4.50 (Betfair), Sandeep Sharma 5.00 (Betway), Shakib Al Hasan 5.50 (Betway).
