IPL 11 – Match 41: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Odds and Betting Preview

Another quick turnaround in IPL fixtures sees these two teams face each other on Wednesday just three days after the reverse game in Mumbai. With the Indians winning that match, this could well be the most important tie of the week as the defending champions look to close the gap on the top four.

Around a week ago, KKR looked quite comfortable in the Top Four but that loss means that they are now just two points clear in fourth place and a further victory for Mumbai here could well see them claim the remaining play off slot on net run rate.

Match Odds

The result market isn’t as tight as we might have expected with the Knight Riders some way clear at odds of 1.83 with Betfair. That leaves Mumbai Indians at 2.00 with Betfair again and there will be plenty of interest in the outsiders following Sunday’s win.

That victory by 13 runs was comfortable enough in the end and this talented Indians team is earning some momentum with two straight wins. Kolkata’s form has been mixed since the tournament started and we know that Mumbai like to build after slow starts.

It’s very tight to call and KKR can certainly get revenge but Mumbai have a knack of taking key wickets and a lot of positive indicators point to the away win.

Match Odds Summary: Kolkata Knight Riders 1.83 (Betfair), Mumbai Indians 2.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick).

Top Batsmen

Chris Lynn has found some decent form at times and thankfully for the Knight Riders has remained fit to date. It’s vital for Lynn to score big if KKR are to succeed and the Aussie is favourite to top score for his side at 3.60 with Betway.

Robin Uthappa follows on at 4.75 while Nitish Rana is at 5.50, both with Betway. Shubman Gill is starting to underline his potential and looks a tempter at 8.00 with Betfair while other options include Sunil Narine at 7.00 with Betway and Dinesh Karthik at an excellent 10.00 with Betfair.

Suryakumar Yadav comes into this game having scored his fourth half century of IPL 11 and he becomes joint favourite to top score for Mumbai at 4.00 with Betway. Evin Lewis shares that 4.00 price, also with Betway, while skipper Rohit Sharma is further back at 4.50 with Betfair.

Mumbai have some tempting prices in the middle order but their power hitters haven’t really delivered this season. You could, however, look at JP Duminy at 6.00 with Betway or Hardik Pandya at 9.00, Kieron Pollard at 12.00 and Krunal Pandya at 23.00 – all with Betfair.

It may well be time for Rohit to provide the profit again but we’re backing Chris Lynn as an overall tip. We prefer this bet when Sunil Narine drops down the order as he was at the weekend, and this should leave Lynn free to dominate the Powerplay overs.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: Kolkata Knight Riders: Lynn 3.60 (Betway – Editor’s Pick), Uthappa, 4.75 (Betway), Rana 5.50 (Betway), Narine 7.00 (Betway), Gill 8.00 (Betfair), Karthik 10.00 (Betfair).

Mumbai Indians: Yadav 4.00 (Betway), Lewis 4.00 (Betway), Rohit 4.50 (Betfair), Duminy 6.00 (Betway), Hardik Pandya 9.00 (Betfair), Pollard 12.00 (Betfair), Krunal Pandya 23.00 (Betfair).

Other Side Bets

Mumbai’s Top Bowler market interests us and while this has been a breakthrough tournament for the spinner Mayank Markande, the Indians’ seamers are starting to dominate. It’s also been a subdued competition for Jasprit Bumrah but he leads as favourite once again to return best Mumbai bowling figures.

Bumrah can be claimed at 4.00 with Betway while there is a clutch of players at odds of 5.00. Markande and Hardik Pandya are available at that figure with Betway but we’re going for Mitchell McClenaghan at 5.00 with Betfair. The Kiwi paceman still takes wickets but hasn’t always been as expensive as in recent years so he’s our pick.

Mumbai Indians Top Bowler Odds Summary: Bumrah 4.00 (Betway), Markande 5.00 (Betway), Hardik Pandya 5.00 (Betway), McClenaghan 5.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Krunal Pandya 6.00 (Betway).

That’s an impressive bowling unit overall and we’re backing that attack to take crucial wickets and get Mumbai over the line.
