Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enter the 2018 IPL Championship final as the favourite and they will have thousands of supporters filling the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Should CSK go on to win the 2018 IPL trophy, they will without question cement themselves as being the most popular IPL franchise in the league.
Sunrisers played CSK in Qualifier 1 and came up short. They will look to stop CSK on Sunday and learn from their mistakes in the qualifier. We take a look at what each time will have to do to get their hands on the 2018 IPL Trophy and take home hefty pay checks.
CSK – Winning Strategy
Absorb Pressure: CSK has the experience of playing multiple IPL finals and their current team have been more or less together for the last decade. The men in yellow have shown that they can deliver under pressure and they also have the knack of putting pressure on the opposition to expose chinks in their armour.
Score In The Death Overs: Sunrisers have arguably the best bowling line-up in the tournament as both their seamers and spinners have delivered consistently. CSK will have to make sure they score at a good rate in the death overs whether they are batting first or chasing.
MS Dhoni: MS Dhoni has once again led CSK to another IPL final and he holds the key as his players look to him for inspiration. Dhoni has had a good IPL with the bat and will want to finish on a winning note.
Sunrisers – Winning Strategy
Batting Must Fire: While the Sunrisers have showcased excellent bowling throughout the tournament, their batting has been hot and cold. When they have done well, captain Kane Williamson has led from the front. Williamson will have to play a captain’s knock to give his side a chance at winning
Indian Players Must Contribute: S Dhawan, W Saha, Y Pathan and DJ Hooda will have to hold the batting together. S Dhawan can be a match winner on his day and if he gets going at the top, the Sunrisers will get off to a good start.
Stop The Bravo Effect: MS Dhoni has constantly used DJ Bravo in the death overs. The Sunrisers will have to work out a strategy to counter his slower balls and make sure he does not send down his four overs economically.
Conclusion: CSK should be able to beat the Sunrisers once again but a stellar performance from any one of the Sunrisers can shift the match in their favour.
