In a rain-reduced match against Sri Lanka on Monday, the home side made a fast start and looked to be set for a big total but India’s bowlers pulled it back, leaving their batters to chase down a target of 153 with ease.
With all of these Nidahas Trophy games taking place in Colombo, it’s another fast 48 hour turnaround for Rohit Sharma’s men as they prepare to do battle with Bangladesh on Wednesday and after that most recent win, another victory will take them through to Sunday’s final.
They are missing several key players and started the competition slowly but Rohit Sharma’s side start as favourites to win Wednesday’s game at odds of 1.36 with Betfair. That leaves Bangladesh as the clear outsiders at 3.40 with Betfair again.
Bangladesh have also beaten Sri Lanka and were impressive as they chased down 215 in that game but against India they suffered a heavy loss after posting just 139. They are capable of beating the best but inconsistency has long been an issue for this team and with India’s back up players hitting form, we have to side with the favourites.
Match Odds Summary: Bangladesh: 3.40 (Betfair) India: 1.36 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick)
Stand in skipper Rohit Sharma has been quiet for a few games but he still starts as joint favourite to score most Indian runs on Wednesday at 3.75 with Betway. Shikhar Dhawan is in much better touch and having delivered the profit in the opening two games, the left hander could be a much better option at that same 3.75 with Betway again.
Manish Pandey saw India home against Sri Lanka with 42 and is available now at 6.50 but Dinesh Karthik ran him close and is much further back at 13.00. Further options include Suresh Raina at 4.75 and KL Rahul at 4.25 and once again, all of those odds are with Betway.
For Bangladesh, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was the star of that big run chase last week but it’s Tamim Iqbal who starts as favourite to top score for his side at 3.50 with Betway. Mushfiqur follows at 4.00 while Soumya Sarkar is quoted at 4.75. Opener Liton Das made 43 in that win over Sri Lanka and looks a good option at 5.00 – all with Betway once again.
We’re looking for Tamim to hit form here but as an overall tip we’ll pick Raina to top score for India. There may be a temptation for the selectors to leave him out in favour of Rishabh Pant but the left hander is threatening a big score and we’re looking for him to deliver.
Top Batsman Odds Summary: India: Rohit 3.75 (Betway), Dhawan 3.75 (Betway), Rahul 4.25 (Betway), Raina 4.50 (Betway – Editor’s Pick), Pandey 6.50 (Betway), Karthik 13.00 (Betway)
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal 3.50 (Betway), Mushfiqur Rahim 4.00 (Betway), Soumya Sarkar 4.75 (Betway), Liton Das 5.00 (Betway).
Other Side Bets
Bookmakers don’t always react quickly to T20 series where games have these fast turnarounds and we have just a few options for this match. India’s top bowler is one that we often look to and there is some value here in a tight market with Jaydev Unadkat and Yuzvendra Chahal starting as joint favourites at 4.00 with Betway.
Betway are also busy with stats betting and you can stake on how many runs each side will score in a certain over and there can often be some good prices in that. However, with slightly limited choice we’ll stay where we’re comfortable and take the top bowler bet.
Shardul Thakur was the hero on Monday and you may want to take him at 5.00 with Betway but we’re tipping Chahal for a return to form.
India Top Bowler Odds Summary: Unadkat 4.00 (Betway), Chahal 4.00 (Betway – Editor’s Pick), Sundar 4.50 (Betway), Thakur 5.00 (Betway).
You’re never quite sure what you’re going to get with Bangladesh and they have the quality to upset those odds but India are hitting form just at the right time and that momentum should take Rohit and his side into Sunday’s final.
