India’s dynamic captain Virat Kohli has had a phenomenal year in all forms of the game. He led India to another test series win at home as India finished the series against Sri Lanka on a 1-0 winning note. Kohli who is a fitness freak has asked the BCCI for permission to skip both the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka as he feels his body needs the rest.
Kohli Set To Marry Anushka Sharma In Dec
However there are rumours floating around that the real reason Kohli has asked for a break is because he plans to wed his long time Bollywood girlfriend Anushka Sharma. Local media reports that Kohli and Sharma plan to get married in Italy during the second week of December and the likely date is December 12.
They are keeping the wedding a secret for now and only a close group of friends and family will attend the wedding in Italy. The couple plan to come back to India and throw a big reception in Mumbai on December 21.
There are also reports in the media that Virat Kohli has applied for a spouse visa to South Africa. India will fly to South Africa and play a three match test series starting on Jan 5th and after that compete in a 6 match ODI series. This is another indicator that the marriage rumours have an element of truth to it.
Kohli Will Hope Form Continues In 2018
Kohli scored two back to back double centuries during the series against Sri Lanka and proved that unlike England’s captain Joe Root, the additional responsibility of captaining the side has brought out the best in his batting. He won the man of the match award in the third test against Sri Lanka and was also given the man of the series award.
In a statement, Kohli said “It was kind of a revelation that I can play in Tests the way I can do in ODIs. There’s nothing called set pattern these days, if you can believe in yourself, you can achieve anything in any format.”
The Indian public in the past have lashed out at Anushka Sharma on social media as there have been more than one occasion where Kohli has failed with the bat when she was present during the match.
Indian cricket fans will hope that the additional responsibilities of being a married man will also have a positive impact on his batting and captaincy. India have a challenging series against South Africa and Kohli will be the key for India to do well overseas.
