India v Sri Lanka: 3rd Test Odds and Betting Preview

There were times when the first test of this three match series could have gone either way but in Nagpur, India were completely dominant and now go into this final game with a 1-0 lead, meaning that Virat Kohli will end 2017 without yet losing a series as captain.

It’s been a pretty good set of two games for us as well with five winning tips out of six so let’s see if we can continue that run.

Match Odds

That emphatic innings win has just reinforced India’s position as favourites for this final game and you can currently pick up Virat Kohli’s men at a top price of 1.30 with Betfair. That figure leaves Sri Lanka out at 11.00 with Betway while the draw is available at 5.50 with Betfair once again.

There are selection questions for both of these teams and while Shikhar Dhawan is back in the Indian squad, the selectors might be more tempted to stick with Murali Vijay following his efforts in the first game.

The bigger problem surrounds Sri Lanka who are without Rangana Herath and while the spinner hasn’t been so effective on this tour, he can often be the main threat and he leaves the visitors looking depleted. Once again, the balance of the squads suggests that India will now go on and emphasise their greater quality with a closing win.

Match Odds Summary: India 1.30 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick) Sri Lanka 11.00 (Betway). The Draw 5.50 (Betfair).

Top Batsmen

Our second profit on the second test came with Virat Kohli, who led the way in India’s first innings with that magnificent double hundred. The skipper usually starts any top batter market as favourite and he’s on offer here at 3.25 with Betfair.

With Shikhar Dhawan back in the squad, the selectors have decisions to make but it would seem unfair to shift Murali Vijay who was India’s first of four centurions in Nagpur. Vijay starts here at 6.00 with Betfair but if you think that Dhawan will keep his place then you can pick up the left hander at that same 6.00 with Betfair once again.

Elsewhere, Cheteshwar Pujara gave us the profit in the first game in Kolkata and he is tempting us again at 4.00 with Betfair. There’s little value in this market as we expect the top order to deliver but you could potentially look at Ajinkya Rahane at 8.00 or Rohit Sharma at 9.00 who could deliver in the event of an early collapse.

Sri Lanka’s batters did little to impress in either innings in Nagpur as Dinesh Chandimal took the top batsman profit with 57. The skipper starts as favourite again at 3.75 with Betfair while Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews can both be picked up at 5.00 with Betfair again. Niroshan Dickwella could be a value punt from the middle order at 7.50 with Betfair but this is a tough market to call.

With that in mind we’ll fall back on a tried and trusted player and back the in-form Cheteshwar Pujara to top score for India on first innings.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: India: Kohli 3.25 (Betfair), Pujara 4.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Vijay 6.00 (Betfair), Dhawan 6.00 (Betfair), Rahane 8.00 (Betfair), Sharma 9.00 (Betfair).

Sri Lanka: Chandimal 3.75 (Betfair), Mathews 5.00 (Betfair), Karunaratne 5.00 (Betfair), Dickwella 7.50 (Betfair).

Other Side Bets

As always there are lots of options for this final tip and with the spinners coming to the fore in Nagpur, it may be obvious to back R Ashwin to return best first innings figures for India at 3.00 with Betfair. Alternatively you could take India to provide the highest scoring batter at 1.30 with Betfair but there’s little value in that.

Instead, we’ll return to the Man of the Match market that gave us a profit last time out. Kohli was the pick last time and he starts as favourite at 6.00 with Betfair but we’re backing Pujara to take advantage of a Herath-less Sri Lanka so that’s our selection at 10.00 with Betfair again.

Man of the Match Odds Summary: Kohli 6.00 (Betfair), Ashwin 7.00 (Betfair), Pujara 10.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick), Jadeja 10.00 (Betfair), Mathews 23.00 (Betfair), Chandimal 26.00 (Betfair).
