India v Australia – 3rd T20 Odds and Betting Preview

Australia’s win in Guwahati may not have pleased Indian supporters but it does set us up nicely for a series decider on a tour that has been fairly one-sided up until this point. Jason Behrendorff proved key to the tourists’ success but despite that win, the hosts remain red hot favourites coming into Friday’s final game in Hyderabad.

Match Odds

Ahead of the game, India are out in front and you can back Virat Kohli’s men at 1.65 with Betfair. That price leaves  Australia as the outside option at 2.30 with Bet365 and the result from Tuesday’s match shows that there is some definite value in that figure.

We always state that T20 tipping is the hardest of all as the game can effectively be decided in a short space of time. Behrendorff proved that point perfectly in Guwahati, nipping out India’s top four batters with just 27 on the board and from there, the hosts never recovered.

The same could happen again in Hyderabad but based on depth of squad and our original prediction of a 2-1 series scoreline, we’ll stick with India this time.

Match Odds Summary: India 1.65 (Betfair Editor’s Pick) Australia 2.30 (Bet365)

Top Batsmen

India’s innings never got going and we finished with a rather unlikely top scorer in Kedar Jadhav who made just 27. Jadhav is on offer here at 8.00 with Bet365 in a market where Virat Kohli starts as favourite at 4.00 with Bet365 again. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are both quoted at best odds of 4.50 with Bet365 and while we tipped Dhawan last time out, it should be time for Kohli to step forward and deliver the captain’s innings that gets India over the line.

Meanwhile, you could look at a couple of high priced outsiders down the order with Hardik Pandya at 7.00 with Bet365 and MS Dhoni at 10.00 – also with Bet365.

It’s rare for both of Australia’s openers to fail but David Warner and Aaron Finch made just 2 and 8 respectively before Moises Henriques and Travis Head came together to seal the victory. With Steve Smith absent, the visitors’ top batsman market should still be between these two and you can take Warner at 3.75 or Finch at 4.33 – both with Bet365.

Elsewhere, Head is at 5.50 with Bet365 and Henriques at 6.00 with Bet365 while Glenn Maxwell may offer some value at 7.00 with Bet365 once again.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: India: Kohli 4.00 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Sharma 4.50 (Bet365), Dhawan 4.50 (Bet365), Jadhav 8.00 (Bet365), Pandya 7.00 (Bet365), Dhoni 10.00 (Bet365).

Australia: Warner 3.75 (Bet365), Finch 4.33 (Bet365), Head 5.50 (Bet365), Henriques 6.00 (Bet365), Maxwell 7.00 (Bet365).

Other Side Bets

Our one profit from Tuesday’s match came with Bhuvneshwar Kumar returning best Indian bowling figures, albeit in a losing match. We quite like this market as you can always find some good value with plenty of choice and for the decider in Hyderabad, Kumar is out again at an excellent best price of 5.00 with Bet365.

Jasprit Bumrah starts as favourite at 3.75 with Bet365 but this could be a game where the spinners come into it more. We haven’t seen the best of Yuzvendra Chahal in this series but if he retains his place, best odds of 4.50 with Bet365 as India’s top bowler look very good indeed.

India Top Bowler Odds Summary: Bumrah 3.75 (Bet365), Chahal 4.50 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), K. Yadav 4.50 (Bet365), Kumar 5.00 (Bet365).

Before this series started we were backing Australia to take one game but felt that it would be a consolation after India had taken the first two. The tourists showed they can be a threat and they have a real chance after winning in Guwahati but we will stay with our overall prediction of a 2-1 series victory in favour of India and keep faith with Kohli’s men on Friday.
