Duckworth Lewis only played a very small part as India eased their way to a nine wicket victory in the first of this three match series. With Australia making just 118/8 on a slow deck in Ranchi, the home side were fully expected to get over the line and the weather only made their task that much easier.
The teams are now in the unfamiliar territory of Guwahati for Tuesday’s second game and naturally, India’s position as favourites has been cemented after that win.
Ahead of the game, India are now available at 1.53 with Bet365 to secure victory in Tuesday’s match while the best odds available on an Australian victory stand at 2.5 with Bet365 once again. We all know that the shortest format can still be unpredictable and we are on an unfamiliar surface here but there was little to suggest that the tourists can recover from that poor start.
The loss of Steve Smith to injury was an obvious blow and while we were looking at a 2-1 series win for the home side, Australia’s success may have to come as a late consolation.
Match Odds Summary:
India: 1.53 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Australia 2.50 (Bet365).
India lost Rohit Sharma early in Saturday’s run chase but otherwise were hardly tested as they chased down a revised target of 48 from six overs. Virat Kohli top scored and the skipper is favourite to hit most runs for his side again at best odds of 4.00 with Bet365.
Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan are both at 4.50 with Bet365 while Manish Pandey may be an option at 6.50 with Bet365 again. Better value comes, however, from Hardik Pandya at 7.00 and MS Dhoni at 10.00 – once again, those prices are with Bet365.
Aaron Finch was the only player to show any quality for the Aussies as the opener took his good ODI form into the T20 leg of this tour. Finch may look an obvious choice for the visitors at a best of 4.33 with Bet365 although David Warner starts as the favourite at a top price of 3.75 with Bet365 once again.
For this game, we may be looking for Glenn Maxwell at an excellent figure of 7.00 with Bet365 but as for an overall tip, we’re hoping that the rain will stay away and allow Shikhar Dhawan more time to give us a profit.
Top Batsman Odds Summary: India: Kohli 4.00 (Bet365), Sharma 4.50 (Bet365), Dhawan 4.50 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Pandey 6.50 (Bet365), Pandya 7.00 (Bet365), Dhoni 10.00 (Bet365).
Australia: Warner 3.75 (Bet365), Finch 4.33 (Bet365), Head 5.50 (Bet365), Henriques 6.00 (Bet365), Maxwell 7.00 (Bet365).
Other Side Bets
Both pace and spin kept Australia in check on Saturday as Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah returned almost identical figures. Yadav just shaded it with 2/16 and he looks a good option for India’s top bowler on Tuesday at best odds of 4.50 with Bet365. Yuzvendra Chahal can also be picked up at that same best price of 4.50 with Bet365 while Bumrah starts as favourite at 3.75 with Bet365 again.
All the while, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has dipped to a top price of 5.00 with Bet365 and we feel that this offers good value for this game. Australia should certainly show more fight and Bhuvi may have more of an impact, picking up wickets at the death.
India Top Bowler Odds Summary: Bumrah 3.75 (Bet365), Yadav, 4.50 (Bet365), Chahal 4.50 (Bet365), Kumar 5.00 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Pandya 5.50 (Bet365).
Any T20 contest can really go either way but you still have to consider form as an obvious pointer. Australia’s form is very poor and after a brief resurgence in the One Dayers, they have dipped again and look as though they are aiming to regroup for the Ashes. Overall, it seems to point to another home win in Guwahati.
