India managed to dodge the showers long enough to secure a comfortable 105 run victory in the second match of this five game ODI series. The teams are now in Antigua for Friday’s third fixture and it looks as if the weather could be the tourists’ toughest opponent for the remainder of this tour.
It’s a fairly predictable result market with Virat Kohli’s men way ahead at odds of 1.20 for the win with Bet365 and Betway. Meanwhile, anyone looking to take what could be an optimistic punt on the Windies can find 4.50 with Bet365 and Betfair next to their name.
Usually in a five match series you could pick the outside bet to win at least one game but it’s hard to see how they can do this. Many said it was a shame that the West Indies were absent from the ICC Champions Trophy but when they aren’t fielding their best players, poor results are inevitable.
The weather forecast looks OK for Friday so if we get a full game then it’s hard to see how the Windies can upset those odds.
Match Odds Summary: West Indies 4.50 (Bet365), India 1.20 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick).
India’s batters have found form and just look too strong for the West Indies attack right now and it’s Virat Kohli who is favourite to top score for his side on Friday at best odds of 3.50 with Bet365. Shikhar Dhawan follows at a top price of 4.00 with Bet365 while Ajinkya Rahane, the centurion from the previous match, is slightly further back at 4.33 with Bet365 again.
Hardik Pandya and Yuvraj Singh failed as they looked to push the score on but they could be options at 13.00 and 7.50 – both with Bet365 – while MS Dhoni completes the list of likely candidates at odds of 10.00 with Bet365 once again. So far in this series we’ve been looking at Shikhar Dhawan after a strong Champions Trophy but this could be the time for Kohli to really go big.
For the West Indies, we had spotted some value against Roston Chase. He looked good in the previous match but it was disappointing to see him come in at seven, below Jason Holder. If Chase was promoted by a place or two he would be more tempting at 10.00 with Bet365 as Shai Hope starts as favourite at 4.50 with Betfair.
Evin Lewis could be an option at best odds of 5.00 with Bet365 while Jonathan Carter could come into it at a top price of 7.50 with Betfair.
Top Batsman Odds Summary: West Indies: Hope 4.50 (Betfair), Lewis 5.00 (Bet365), Carter 7.50 (Betfair), Chase 10.00 (Bet365).
India: Kohli 3.50 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Dhawan 4.00 (Bet365), Rahane 4.33 (Bet365), Yuvraj 7.50 (Bet365), Dhoni 10.00 (Bet365), Pandya 13.00 (Bet365).
Other Side Bets
We usually like to take a look at India’s top bowler market where we have our own favourite – Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvi was the pick of the seamers with great figures of 2/9 in the last game but it was the unlikely leg spin of Kuldeep Yadav that returned any profit.
Kumar starts as favourite again at best odds of 4.50 with Bet365 while Yadav and R. Ashwin are both on offer at 4.50 with Bet365 again. The Windies’ sub-par response meant that Kohli could rotate his options so his main seamer sent down just five overs but we expect more this time and will punt on another favourite for this third game.
India Top Bowler Odds Summary: Kumar 4.00 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Jadeja 4.33 (Bet365), Kuldeep Yadav 4.50 (Bet365), Ashwin 4.50 (Bet365), Umesh Yadav 5.00 (Bet365).
That’s an impressive set of bowling options but it’s the batting that should seal another win for India. We’d like to argue the case for a more competitive game but from what we’ve seen so far, Friday’s match can surely only go one way.
