Match 37 – Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kolkata Knight RidersPreview

Having finally won away from home, the Sunrisers will be even more pleased to be back in Hyderabad where they have a perfect record in this season’s IPL. The win over Kings XI on Friday keeps David Warner’s men in third place but now they face the top team.

Kolkata Knight Riders have seven wins and seem destined for the next phase of the tournament but they have lost twice and this could be their toughest test in what has become a fortress for the home side.

Match Odds

This gives us the tightest result market in the competition so far with many bookies giving the same win price for both teams. Elsewhere, you can get best odds of 1.91 with Betway on a Sunrisers victory while a win for KKR is on offer at 2.00 with Betfair.

It’s as hard to call as the market suggests but of the two sides, Kolkata are showing better consistency and while I don’t like to see Sunil Narine open the batting, it hasn’t bothered Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa that much with both men scoring half centuries against Delhi last time out.

But it’s the bowling attack that really shines for the Knight Riders and that perfect Sunrisers’ home record has to end some time.

Match Odds Summary: Sunrisers Hyderabad 1.91 (Betway), Kolkata Knight Riders 2.00 (Betfair – Editor’s Pick).

Top Batsmen

Shikhar Dhawan top scored for the Sunrisers as they went beyond 200 on Friday and the left hander starts here at best odds of 4.50 with Bet365 for Sunday’s match. You can also get that same 4.50 price with Bet365 on Kane Williamson while David Warner is the favourite at best odds of 3.25 with Betway.

As we’ve seen already, SRH give us options in the middle order with Yuvraj Singh at 7.00 with Betway and Moises Henriques at 6.00 with Betway and Bet365.

The second tip of the match comes in the Knight Riders’ version of this top batsman market where I’m backing Robin Uthappa at odds of 4.00 with Bet365. Uthappa seems consistent when he gets into a run of form and now he has settled at number three, he should build some big innings from here.

Other options in this market include the favourite Gautam Gambhir at 3.50 with Betway, Sunil Narine at 7.00 with Betway and Manish Pandey at 6.00 with Bet365.

Top Batsman Odds Summary: Sunrisers Hyderabad: Warner 3.25 (Betway), Dhawan 4.50 (Bet365), Williamson 4.50 (Bet365), Henriques 6.00 (Betway), Yuvraj 7.00 (Betway).

Kolkata Knight Riders: Gambhir 3.50 (Betway), Uthappa 4.00 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Pandey 6.00 (Bet365), Narine 7.00 (Betway).

Other Side Bets

In Sunrisers’ top bowler market, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has given us some profits at IPL 10 so we should certainly look at that again where he starts as favourite at best odds of 3.50 with Bet365 and Betfair.

Siddarth Kaul is the value pick however, after delivering the best figures against Kings XI, and he goes off at 6.00 with Bet365.

But for the final tip, we’ll head to the most sixes betting where the figures are very tight once again. The Knight Riders are the marginal outside bet at 2.10 with Bet365 but Sunrisers can win this even if they lose the match itself. With Warner, Dhawan and Williamson all making runs last time out, they are the tip for Sunday at 2.05 with Bet365 again.

Most Sixes Odds Summary: Sunrisers Hyderabad 2.05 (Bet365 – Editor’s Pick), Kolkata Knight Riders 2.10 (Bet365), the Tie 7.50 (Bet365).

Hyderabad’s batting can be strong again at the top and that Most Sixes bet is really a bit of insurance in case the match tip doesn’t land. It’s so hard to call but Kolkata Knight Riders have been more impressive and more consistent and should edge a tight contest.
