After a surprise home win in the opening game, this series has returned to form with India taking the second match to level things up at 1-1.
The dominance shown in the ODI leg of this tour returned as the visitors chased down 99 to win by ten wickets and the bookmakers expect MS Dhoni’s men to continue with a further victory in Wednesday’s decider.
Match Odds & Game Preview
India have stayed at a very short win price of 1.14 and while we’ve seen in this series that shocks can still occur in T20 cricket, it’s likely that they will convert at that figure. Following the opening loss, we suggested that the selectors might make a few changes and it was one of the new men – BB Sran – who starred with a four wicket spell.
India look considerably stronger with Sran, Kulkarni and Bumrah as their seam attack and backed by Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, they should be too strong for the hosts. But Zimbabwe have already won one match so how can they do so again?
Quite simply, they need to be at their absolute best and hope that India have another poor day with the ball. The home side have some dangerous players in Hamilton Masakadza and Elton Chigumbura but I don’t expect them to get past this improved Indian line up.
Top Batsmen Betting Picks
The bookmakers have been very slow to react to Monday’s second game and odds in some areas are still coming in but for now, you can back Hamilton Masakadza to top score for Zimbabwe at 3.25 with 888Sport. Vusi Sibanda and Chamu Chibhabha are both at 5.00 with 888Sport while Sikandar Raza can be claimed at 6.00 with Bet365.
Betting Pick: They are all contenders but no single player from Zimbabwe has shown any consistent form so it may be worth taking a small bet on Elton Chigumbura who has top scored from number seven in two matches on this tour. Chigumbura can be backed at a generous price of 6.50 with 888Sport.
For India, should you be looking beyond the top three? Only the openers were required in that second game and there have been no signs that Dhoni’s men want to bat first and post a big total. KL Rahul starts as favourite at 3.50 with Bet365 while Mandeep Singh is on offer at 4.00 with Bet365 again.
MS Dhoni’s odds continue to look good at an excellent 13.00 with 888Sport but based on what we’ve seen, he’s unlikely to be batting for too long. Instead, we’ll keep faith with our tip from the last match – Ambati Rayudu at 3.75 with 888Sport.

Other Bet Tips
Betting Tip: There is a restricted range of side bets but there is a choice depending on whether you want to play it safe or take a bit of a gamble. Among the ‘safe’ bets is Team of Top Batsman where India start at 1.20 with 888Sport but in the event of another low scoring contest, I’m going to be taking No Batsman to Pass 50 at 3.20 with 888Sport again.
Zimbabwe’s win in the opening match of this T20 series can lead to confused thinking. We’ve all seen shocks in the 13 years or so that 20 – 20 cricket has been with us and they will continue to happen in the future. For it to happen again on this tour, Zimbabwe will have to be superb while India will have to play seriously badly and having made some important changes to their bowling attack, I can’t see the tourists losing for a second time in three games.
