Sunrisers Hyderabad Set To Take On Royal Challengers Bangalore In 2016 IPL Final

The Sunrisers Hyderabad held their nerve against the Gujarat Lions in the second eliminator at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi to make book themselves a place in the 2016 IPL final on 29th May against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

At one point of time during their chase, the Sunrisers looked to be on the backfoot but an epic innings by skipper David Warner helped them cross the line. Warner is now the second highest run scorer in the tournament after RCB skipper Virat Kohli.

In a post match statement, Warner said “Pretty overwhelming. I know if I could hang in there, the end we were capable of chasing it. My turn to take us to the end. I’m not going to take any credit for it. A few emotions there some silly shots and errors. If there are two batsmen out there, hard to defend”.

RCB enter the final as favourites as they will be playing on home turn at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. They without a doubt have the best battling line-up in the tournament as both Kohli and AB Devilliers are in fantastic form. The Sunrisers have the best bowling attack in the tournament but their concern will be the fitness of Mustafizur ‘the fizz’ Rahman and the batting form of Deepak Hooda and Yuvraj Singh.

Considering RCB and Kohli’s record of chasing down scores, the toss might prove to be crucial as the Sunrisers will have a better chance putting RCB in to bat. The Sunrisers cannot continue to depend on Warner to see them through and the domestic players need to rise to the occasion if the Sunrisers are going to win their first IPL championship.

The batting revolves around Kohli and Devilliers but the power hitting of Gayle and Watson cannot be overlooked as well. In the bowling department, Watson has been outstanding and has received good support from Y Chahal.

Warner has been the mainstay of the Sunrisers batting unit and on rare occasions received support from S Dhawan and Yuvaraj. Does Warner have one more epic innings in him to help him team clinch the championship remains to be seen.

Sunrisers have already lost A Nehra to injury and ‘the fizz’ missed the eliminator due to a hamstring niggle. Warner will hope he recovers in time for Sunday’s final, if not a lot will depend on Trent Bolt and Ben Cutting.
