RCB are alive, but only just! Having got into a position where they needed to win all of their remaining games, the Royal Challengers have been playing the best cricket of this IPL and their fans will be wondering why they haven’t been doing this since the start.
They need to keep winning to stay in touch with the top four and Virat Kohli’s men have a great chance of doing just that against a depleted Kings XI who have already been eliminated from the tournament.
Match Odds & Game Preview
This is the most one sided set of match odds we’ve seen at this tournament with RCB way ahead at 1.53 with Betfair and the Kings XI lagging well behind at 2.78 with Betfair again. TThe Kings are already out of the competition and Kings become weaker with the departure of Glenn Maxwell who has returned to Australia with a side strain . OK so the ‘Big Show’ had done very little at this year’s tournament but Maxwell is the type of player that can turn any game in the space of a few overs.
Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers are on a hot streak and while Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers remained in the runs against KKR last time out, perhaps the best news was a return to form of Chris Gayle who hit 49 in just 31 balls.
The bowling remains a little suspect but everything else is falling into place for Bangalore right now and you really can’t see past the favourites in this one.
Top Batsmen Betting Picks
Kohli’s stats at this tournament are just incredible: He’s scored 752 runs, the most at any IPL and all this at an average of 83 and a strike rate over 148! Is there any alternative to the skipper to score most RCB runs here at 2.75 with 888Sport?
Value Bet: Actually there is, at any other tournament AB De Villiers might have been running away with the Orange Cap. The South African is in second place behind Kohli with 597 runs and is a great value pick under the circumstances at 4.00 with Bet365.
Gayle’s innings on Monday will attract bets for the West Indian at a healthy 4.50 with 888Sport while Lokesh Rahul can be dependable at 7.50 with Bet365 if the top order fail.
Betting Tip: Over in the Kings XI camp, Hashim Amla switched up to T20 mode and nearly made a century last time out so the opener will look tempting at 3.75 with Bet365, but the new skipper Murali Vijay has been more consistent and would be my pick at that same 3.75 with Bet365.
If you think that RCB have to win this but want a little more value than that 1.53 result price, 888Sport list Kohli’s men at 1.80 to hit the most sixes in this game. In chasing down 183 against Kolkata, Kohli, De Villiers and Gayle hit ten maximums to KKR’s six and that bet looks safe again here.
Admittedly, KXIP are seriously tempting in this market at 3.30 with Bet365 but the Royal Challengers can fire all the way down to Chris Jordan and the lower order.
We all know how unpredictable T20 cricket can be and even though Maxwell has left for Australia, there is enough threat in this Kings XI side with Murali Vijay, Amla and David Miller capable of tons in this format.
Betting Tip: But, all the momentum is with RCB and they should keep their playoff hopes alive for one more game. I’m backing the Royal Challengers for a modest profit and while Kohli has been brilliant to watch this season, AB De Villiers has matched him at times and the best bet is AB to top score for RCB in Tuesday’s tie.
