Mumbai remain outside of the play offs and despite having the same number of points as Delhi and Kolkata who are in third and fourth respectively, they have played two games more and prospects for progression are looking bleak.
For the Daredevils themselves, if they win this then they should go on to claim a top four place so Sunday’s game is simply vital for both sides.
Match Odds & Game Preview
The Mumbai Indians seem to be unimpressed with the surface at Visakhapatnam which has been slow, sticky and almost impossible to build big totals on. The Sunrisers did manage to compile 177 on here and they have won two games while batting first but you feel that the toss will be vital to Sunday’s outcome with both skippers preferring to chase.
That could be pivotal to your thinking when betting in a result market where Mumbai are hot favourites to win it at 1.77 with 888Sport, while Delhi are the outside punt at 2.10 with Bet365.
Selection is important and while the Daredevils may look like they haven’t a clue as to their best side, they assure us that they pick a team based on conditions and the qualities of the opposition.
Mumbai meanwhile have missed out by not picking Martin Guptill, and while I won’t be staking until that coin lands, I feel that the defending champions will keep their campaign alive as Delhi will miss out.
Betting Pick: Mumbai Indians to win.
Top Batsmen Betting Picks
Mumbai´s Batsmen Pick: Rohit Sharma
Delhi Batsmen Pick: Quiton de Kock
Guptill is still quoted in Mumbai’s top batsman betting at 3.50 with Bet365, but it may be too late for him to make any difference.
Unlike Delhi, the Indians seem to be settled on their overseas quartet with Pollard, Buttler, Southee and McClenaghan almost certain to start here.
Instead, it’s time for a big captain’s effort so I’m looking to Rohit Sharma to give us a modest profit at 3.20 with [Bet365] once again.
Alternatives include Jos Buttler who has helped Pollard to take the side over the line in tight finishes without ever really being at his best. Buttler starts at 6.00 with Bet365 and you can’t ignore Pollard at an excellent 10.00 with Bet365 once again.
For Delhi, my pick of the game is Quinton De Kock to top score at 3.00 with Bet365. At the risk of siding with the favourite again, QDK has been impressive throughout and gave me the latest in a string of profits with his 44 against the Sunrisers last time out.
If you disagree then there’s plenty of value picks with the excellent young Rishabh Pant a standout at 6.00 with Bet365 while Sanju Samson has also been useful in stages and will start here at 5.00 with Bet365 yet again.
The Daredevils can lack a bit of depth to their batting but if De Kock is on form they won’t need it.
Other Betting Tips
Picking a winner in a side where selection is less than certain is an even bigger gamble, but one man who seems a definite starter is Amit Mishra who is favourite to return best bowling figures for Delhi at 3.75 with Bet365.
It looks, however, as though Chris Morris will be back for good. The South African gives so much to the side with both bat and ball and they need him as they look to secure that top four place. Morris is at 4.00 with Bet365 in their best bowler market and is an excellent option at that figure.
Overall it should be a game for the batsmen with Mumbai’s big middle order guns looking to power through and keep the top four dream alive. They should do just that, with a little help from Rohit Sharma who I believe will play a captain’s knock to help the favourites take the points.
