Sunrisers

After an indifferent start to the campaign, David Warner’s men have racked up four consecutive wins to secure their position as the most in-form team in the competition.

The Sunrisers have won four of their last five matches at the Rajiv Gandhi Intl. Cricket Stadium, and they are one of the few sides capable of winning whether they bat first or second [1].

Against the Rising Pune Supergiants in Match 40 they defended their modest 137 target despite six wickets from Adam Zampa, but it was their efforts in the field that ultimately secured the win. Three wickets for Ashish Nehra were backed by one apiece for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Barinder Sran and Moises Henriques, plus two run outs. Few, if any, bowling units have been as consistent as the Sunrisers in IPL 9.

Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils defeat

Delhi Daredevils after defeat

The Daredevils, meanwhile, have slipped off the radar somewhat in recent times, and two defeats on the bounce – including a loss to the beleaguered Kings XI Punjab – has left them with lots to do if they are to reach the play-off phase.

The Daredevils will have been hugely disappointed with their performance last time out against the Kings XI, and they were always going to be up against it when the Punjab side posted 181 in their innings. None of the Delhi bowlers recorded an economy rate of below 7.50, so that is clearly something they need to work on.

Their batsmen put a decent shift in during their reply, getting to 172/5, but really this feels like the Daredevils side is too reliant on the runs of Quinton de Kock. Sanju Samson is improving, but they need their middle order of Karun Nair, Sam Billings and Carlos Braithwaite to fire if they are to challenge the Sunrisers here.

Betting Tip: On home soil, where they have proven so consistent, it is hard to look past the Sunrisers as winners of this contest. Available at 1.77 with 888sport to do just that, there’s no reason not to get involved.

Top Batsmen Betting Picks

Sunrisers

It is Shikhar Dhawan who has been anchoring the Sunrisers’ efforts recently with scores of 33, 82* and 47*, and it is refreshing to see an old-fashioned stroke-maker still doing the business in the cut-and-thrust world of T20.

Remarkably, Warner has only scored more than 30 once in his last three outings, and yet still sits second in the race for the Orange Cap. That is indicative of how well he was performing early on in this competition.

Betting Tip: In truth you could easily make a case for Dhawan to top score once again for the Sunrisers, but it is Warner’s form at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium – his scores read 92-0-59-90-13-24 there – that suggests he is the man to back once again. The Aussie is available at 2.87 with bet365.

Daredevils

None of the Delhi Daredevils batsmen are in scintillating form – that is reflected in their recent results – and so we have to turn to an old favourite in this market, Quinton de Kock, once more. The South African has hit 52 and 46 in his last two knocks, so there is form there, and at 3.00 with 888sport he is certainly worth a look.

Personal Bet Selections

The average first innings score at this ground is 144.17, so it is clearly a track on which ball beats bat more often than not. That may be hard for the Daredevils to come to terms with, while after six matches here the Sunrisers will be accustomed to the conditions.

Betting Tip: As such, we’re happy to recommend Hyderabad to make a higher first six overs score at 1.80 with bet365.
