The Royal Challengers just about kept their Play Off hopes alive with the narrowest of one run wins over Kings XI last time out, while Mumbai are also outside of the top four as they aim to defend their title.
It’s a must win for both teams and it’s likely to be a thriller in Bangalore on Wednesday. Here are our betting tips and picks for the possbile winner, best batsmen and our very own personal value picks.
Match Odds & Match Preview
The result market is predictably tight with RCB just ahead at 1.75 with 888Sport while Mumbai Indians are narrow outsiders at 2.10 with Bet365. So where will this match be decided?
Mumbai’s form is dismal and after crumbling to 92 against the Sunrisers at the weekend they really need to make changes .
I’ve been saying that it’s time for Martin Guptill to come in and surely the selectors won’t wait any longer to include the record breaking Kiwi in their line up.
The question is who do they leave out? Assuming a batsman has to make way then the most likely candidate is Jos Buttler. West Indian Kieron Pollard has a worse record at IPL9 but he is a crowd pleaser and has the joint fastest 50 in this year’s tournament so expect him to stay.
RCB can do little about a side where their bowlers are the weakest link. They almost let KXIP back into the game on Monday and this is the area for Mumbai to target.
Chris Gayle for Travis Head is a possible change as the Aussie has struggled for runs since breaking into the side.

Top Batsmen Betting Picks
Rohit Sharma has been a consistent figure in some rather mixed Mumbai performances this season and the skipper starts as favourite to top score for his side at 3.25 with 888Sport. If Guptill makes the cut, you can back the opener at 4.00 with Bet365 while Parthiv Patel is listed at 5.00 with Bet365 once again.
There are some top value alternatives with Buttler at 6.50 with 888Sport and Pollard at 10.00 with 888Sport again, but Rohit has been consistent and I feel he’s due another decent score.
RCB’s profits in this market seem to have been split equally between Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers and it will be tough for most punters to look past those two once again.
Betting Tip: Skipper Kohli is on offer at 2.75 with 888Sport and while De Villiers has a better price of 4.00 with Bet365, I think it’s time for the Captain to provide the return yet again.
Elsewhere, Gayle may well give you an option at 4.50 with Bet365 and we haven’t seen the best of Shane Watson with the bat at IPL9. The Aussie made some big scores with Rajasthan and may well be worth a small punt at an excellent 6.50 with 888Sport.
Personal Betting Picks
We’ve seen that Bangalore is the fastest scoring ground this year so you may like the look of the 5.00 quoted by Bet365 on any player scoring a hundred here on Wednesday. That is a little short for a bet that can sometimes sneak up to 10.00 and the value picks definitely lie elsewhere.
Betting Tip: Mumbai as the outside bet to hit the most sixes at 2.25 with Bet365 looks good, but when you consider the fire power on both sides, backing over 16 maximums at 2.00 with Bet365 might just be safer.
Royal Challengers are finally finding some form while Mumbai had that dismal performance against the Sunrisers last time out so it’s natural that most money will be staked on the home side. I’m not convinced however and feel that RCB’s expensive bowling attack will let them down once again.
Betting Tip: It’s tight but I’m siding with Mumbai Indians although I would be much happier if the selectors include Martin Guptill for this vital tie.
